Things to See
  • One of the largest Historic Districts in Georgia is located in Quitman.
  • Brooks County Courthouse - One East Screven St. Constructed in 1864, and designed by John Wind.
  • Brooks County Gazebo - Located on the Courthouse Square. Constructed in 1996 by the Quitman Brooks County Chamber of Commerce for the citizens of Brooks County. Also, the brick Sidewalk of Memories is located on the North side of the Gazebo.
  • Brooks County Museum and Cultural Center - North Culpepper St.; Originally the Brooks County Public Library, the Cultural Center provides a series of music, art and culinary events throughout the year.
  • Quitman Police Department -220 East Screven St. Constructed in 1888, this building originally was the Opera House.
  • Claybank Golf and Country Club- State Hwy 333 South. The club features an 18-hole, 6888 yards Par 72 championship size course, built on a 150 acre beautifully wooded landscape surrounding a tranquil 23 acre lake.
  • Antiques and Collectibles - A complete guide is available at the Chamber office.
  • Walking Tour - Information is available at the Chamber office.
  • Hunting and Fishing - Brooks County is well known for its wildlife. Quail, doves, ducks and deer abound the fields and forests. Brooks County also offers excellent fishing in its many lakes and streams, which are open to the public.
